In honor of the season,
What are your favorite Christmas songs? This is way too tough! Almost any song from Mannheim Steamroller Christmas 1 and 2 is my favorite; if I had to specify, I would name Veni, Veni, Emmanuel, The Holly and the Ivy, and Stille Nacht. From my beloved Messiah, I would choose For unto us a Child is born. I love listening to Christmas in Sarajevo by the Transsiberian Orchestra.
What are your least favorite Christmas songs? I am not fond of any pop songs like Grandma got run over by a reindeer, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, Silver Bells,etc... I guess I am sort of a music snob!
What Christmas food do you like best or least? My mom's Christmas Eve lasagne is the best. I am also a big fan of our frosted, sprinkled sugar cookies and Russian Teacakes. Don't ever offer me fruitcake! Remember our family already has one in my aunt.
What has been your worst Christmas? My grandfather died the day after Thanksgiving 1986 so that Christmas was very difficult. My great-aunt died on Christmas Eve a couple years later and that put a pall on our celebration. Last year I was on a MISSION to get the Christmas boxes down out of the garage(couldn't wait for my husband to get home) and managed to pull a glut muscle.I just had to get those God Jul figurines onto the piano. OUCH! In simple terms, my butt hurt like crazy!
What Christmas have you enjoyed the most? Any when the girls were small was wonderful--watching their excitement!
What is your most meaningful decoration? My mother made these stockings for the girls; they are just like the ones my two (now deceased) brothers and I had. (carrying on a tradition) She is much craftier than I!
I am right with you on the songs. I also love to sing in church "There's a Song in the air"
I have every Manheim Steamroll CD made ... and Kenny G's Christmas CD, that's another great one!
