My day didn't start off very well. It's been a FIVE day week, and we're not used to those, between snow and flooding. So, maybe I can use that as an excuse or menopause, or just being tired. Before I started correcting tests from 1st period during my 2nd period planning, I decided to put on some lip gloss since I tend to be constantly dried out this time of year. I opened up my cupboard where I usually lock up my purse, and it wasn't there! I think I went into shock at that point. Being old(er), I then searched all the cupboards nearby, and even looked in my mini-fridge in case my purse was "chillin'" in there with my lunch. Nope, my purse and car keys were locked in the car--only the second time in 35 years of driving that I've ever done that! Thankfully, I could call my parents from my school phone and send them on a rescue mission; they got my spare keys and delivered them to me(they love that!). My students thought my mom was adorable, which she is! Now I have to reiterate that it's been a five day week and although I love being in the "groove" of work, I'm used to a little more relaxation. However, Alison called from Western and her cell phone speaker now mysteriously works, so we don't have to look stupid to the insurance company. ("Yes, I know you just sent her a phone three weeks ago.") And Older Daughter, getting ready to leave for Africa, had to laugh about the fact that the restaurant/hotel where she's worked for the past six months went under was bought out by Hilton. In a refreshing change of pace, the new management fired all the salaried people like icky Chef and annoying managers, but kept the wait staff. For so long, Ashley wanted Chef to get his "comeupance" for all his indignities and disrespect toward the servers and hosts. And voila, what goes around sometimes really does come around.
