First though, another car coffee date with a friend, and some school and family gossip. It sounds like my former district is going with an A/B schedule: 2 days at school and 3 on-line. I'm hoping that it's just for the secondary schools because it would be a nightmare for elementary kids. (and parents!) My friend is struggling with family dynamics, exacerbated by Covid19. One of her sons-in-law is a doctor, and very controlling about how they should be quarantining, and how much they'll get to interact with their grandson. Her husband(like my late one) has a problem with others telling him what to do! So, it's a pretty big mess with her in the middle, trying to pacify everyone. I'm thankful that John and I are MOSTLY on the same page about what we're comfortable with. It also helps my own attitude when I realize that all of us are dealing with various issues and stresses, as well as annoying people!
Have I ever told you how much I hate drive throughs? The woman in front of me was ordering 100 lots of drinks!
John had some work done on what I refer to as the Great White Whale. Since he was headed out of town to spend a few days with his mother, I helped him pick up the GWW, and now am truck sitting. It's HUGE! If I drove this thing, it would turn me into a jerk. I would rev the engine to hear it go VROOM, and intimidate other drivers if they messed with me. So, it's lucky that I have a weeny little Subaru, eh?
I think it's Short Woman Syndrome, since I'm not even close to as tall as the truck mirrors! :)
During my coffee date, Ashley asked me to look for some photos of clothing she had made in 2004-2005. Thankfully, I have photo albums, which are much easier to deal with than searching on the computer. So, here she is in her quilted shirt and dreadlocks! I used to print every picture I took, and claimed I would NEVER use my cell phone as my main camera. Well...
When I ran into this photo, I couldn't help reminiscing about our late Kendra cat, who had the personality of a rattlesnake.
I revisited Alison's gymnastics days. Bars were one of her many strengths, and I loved watching her do her moves. Unless she crashed...
If she was "on," she was unbeatable on beam, and her signature move was this sheep jump. I wasn't as terrified of it as I should have been because I had never seen her fall on it. I'm glad that I didn't think about how high she was off the beam!
She was such a baby!
And my Stargazer was so incredible back then! It's not very impressive now. The bulbs might be worn out, or the many tulips I've planted in the same bed might have diminished its blooming. It was fascinating to look through the photo albums, yet shocking to see how much our lives have changed. Not always for the better, but also not always for the worse.
